LIBRARY HANDBOOK

WELCOME TO THE UNIONDALE SCHOOL DISTRICT!
The goals of our libraries are:
  • To foster a lifelong love for literature, reading and libraries
  • To encourage independent learning and critical thinking
  • To develop research skills using a variety of print and non-print resources
  • To offer materials and technologies that respond to evolving academic requirements and developments
  • To function as the information center of the school

@ THIS HANDBOOK

The school libraries of the Uniondale School District are integral to the education process of the school district. The Librarian's Handbook has been prepared to provide you with a guide to the general operating procedures of the district libraries and to familiarize you with activities specific to the Uniondale School District.
This handbook is a “work in progress” that needs your thoughtful input! Please forward suggestions for additions and/or changes to me so that subsequent editions can include information that will add to its value. A special word of thanks is extended to administrative intern Ana Ritter who devoted many hours to this project and to Diane Romm who wrote the original Uniondale Library Handbook upon which portions of this one is based.
